Overview

workbench is a miniature painting companion app. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Data Stored on Your Device

All of your paint inventory, model tracking, and wishlist data is stored locally on your device using SQLite. We do not have access to this data unless you choose to enable cloud sync (see below).

Accounts and Cloud Sync

workbench works without an account. The free tier is fully functional with local-only storage and no sign-up required.

If you choose to create an account (via Apple Sign-In or email), you can enable cloud sync to back up and synchronize your data across devices. When cloud sync is enabled, the following data is stored on our servers:

  • Email address (for authentication)
  • Paint inventory, model records, and wishlist items
  • Photos you upload to model galleries
  • Barcode associations you contribute

Your synced data is stored securely by Supabase (our database provider) and is only accessible to your account. You can delete your account and synced data at any time.

Subscriptions

workbench offers an optional premium subscription. Subscription purchases and billing are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and subscription status — it does not receive your name, email, or payment details.

Analytics

We use PostHog for anonymous usage analytics to understand how people use the app and to improve the experience. This includes:

  • Which screens are visited
  • Feature usage (e.g., how often search is used)
  • App version and device type

Analytics data is anonymous and does not include any personally identifiable information (PII). You can opt out of analytics in the app settings.

Error Reporting

We use Sentry to collect crash reports and error logs. These reports help us identify and fix bugs. They may include device type, OS version, and error stack traces, but do not contain personal data.

What We Do NOT Collect

  • Location data
  • Contacts
  • Financial or payment information
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Data from other apps on your device

Third-Party Services

Data Retention and Deletion

Local data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. If you use cloud sync, your data is retained on our servers until you delete your account. You can export your data at any time from the Settings screen.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
